This project is for developing a prototype for a series of soccer stadiums to be built in Angola to support the nation's sport - soccer. Climate characteristics, particular sport needs, local tradition and construction processes were studied to produce a potential standard soccer stadium in Angola.
Concrete a structure to support the seating and with a light, pre-assembled steel framing system for the roof canopy were chosen for ease of construction and expense. The shading canopy takes the shape of a "wave" movement as it proceeds around the playing field to suggest the celebratory nature of the many emotions filled moments in the non-stop action of the sport.
